  • •Trump rallies in Georgia, promoting immigration and tariff policies to boost Republican
  • •Obama targets Trump's economic policies and handling of Iran conflict

Barack Obama launched a scathing critique of the Trump administration as he campaigned for Democrats in Ohio and Michigan ahead of the midterm elections. Addressing supporters on Saturday, the former president described the upcoming election as 'a chance to say, enough is enough.'

Meanwhile, Donald Trump rallied in Georgia, promoting his immigration and tariff policies. He declared, 'our country is getting stronger and stronger all the time, ' as he sought to bolster Republican support for the November 3 elections, which will determine control of Congress for the remainder of his term.

Obama, speaking in Cleveland, criticized Trump for the economic challenges facing the nation, attributing high consumer prices to the current administration's policies. He remarked that everything is more expensive now, avoiding a direct mention of Trump by name.

Trump, on the other hand, acknowledged the temporary spike in oil prices but expressed confidence in the country's economic trajectory. He assured his audience that 'those pump prices are going to come down' and highlighted the financial gains from tariffs, promising a $5,000 payout to every adult American if Republicans secure both chambers of Congress.

In a pointed attack, Trump accused Democrats of jeopardizing national security and economic stability. He used derogatory terms to describe their immigration policies, suggesting they aimed to open borders to 'terror-infested' countries like Libya, Yemen, Haiti, and Somalia. Recalling a past conversation with senators, he questioned why the U. S. couldn't attract immigrants from countries like Norway or Sweden instead.

Obama also took aim at Trump's handling of the Iran conflict, suggesting it had empowered Tehran with 'veto power' over the Strait of Hormuz. Trump, when questioned about the war, claimed he had managed it effectively and hinted at either finishing it or negotiating a deal.

In Ohio, Obama campaigned for ex-Senator Sherrod Brown and gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton. He criticized Republican opponent Vivek Ramaswamy for a controversial campaign ad featuring Acton's estranged mother. The ad omitted the fact that the woman's husband had been charged with raping Acton as a child. Obama condemned Ramaswamy's tactics, stating, 'In recent days, we've seen there is no line he will not cross.'

Acton, speaking before Obama, accused Ramaswamy of exploiting her past to boost his campaign. 'This is despicable, ' she said, referring to the ad that targeted her personal history.

As the midterm elections approach, both parties are intensifying their efforts to sway voters. Early voting has already commenced, with Trump casting his ballot in Florida alongside First Lady Melania Trump. The outcome of these elections will significantly influence the legislative landscape and the ease with which Trump can implement his policies.
